Educators always try to touch the lives of
their students. Sometimes there is a very special person whose
expertise, work ethic, and personality combine to make a tremendous and
memorable teacher. Daisy Evans, physical education teacher at Point
Harmony Elementary, is such an educator.
Daisy embarked on her teaching career thirty-one years ago at Tiskelwah Elementary. She later transferred to Grandview Elementary, and Point Harmony Elementary. She’s not a person to sit on the sidelines; she’s right in the middle of the action in every class, everyday! Daisy makes learning exciting for all the students. Her bowling instruction, jump rope activities, and 50’s Day extravaganza are just a few of the reasons students look forward to her classes. Her family is the center of her attention. As a mother of two, and grandmother to Kyra, she exemplifies her love of life and the importance of her church family and friends. Her husband, Richard, is also a KCEA member and teaches at Dunbar Intermediate. Daisy has been a long-time member of KCEA/WVEA. She believes KCEA has her best interest at heart. “KCEA has supported the physical education program in our county,” Daisy said. “WVEA/KCEA is always first in proposing and working to get pay raises for educators. I know KCEA covers my back when I'm in the classroom!”
